Brief Description

This add-in creates a toolbar that consolidates existing PowerPoint functionality for grayscale printing. It creates a tool-bar that toggles grayscale options on and off and has pre-set formats for printing presentations in grayscale.

Product Details

Sending grayscale output to printers can significantly reduce printing times for black and white laser printers. Some color objects don’t display or print as expected in grayscale. GrayScaleTool has grayscale controls for adjusting grayscale properties readily available. The add-in may benefit large organizations that share networked laser printers. GrayScaleTool is for people who often print GrayScale (saves on color ink), or who want to do special effects with grayscale printing.

The toolbar does not add any new functionality to PowerPoint. It merely organizes PowerPoint’s existing grayscale options into a single toolbar that has buttons that set the print dialog box to grayscale printing automatically.

Toolbar Features

Print slides in grayscale

(Defaults to grayscale for printing. GrayScaleTool does not use PowerPoint’s “pure black and white” setting for printing)

Print handouts in grayscale 2, 3, 4, 6, and 9 per page

Print notes pages in grayscale

Apply grayscale options to the selected pictures and drawing objects

Toggle between grayscale view and color view

Does not affect slideshow colors when running slide shows.

Slideshows will always display in color.

Please note that GrayScaleTool does not add any new functionality to PowerPoint, it just organizes existing functionality into a single toolbar.

The toolbar will open whenever PowerPoint is opened.

System Requirements

GrayScaleTool add-in has been tested and works with current US English versions of Microsoft PowerPoint:

PowerPoint 2003 for Microsoft Windows

PowerPoint 2004 for Apple Macintosh

The add-in is also compatible with these older versions of US English PowerPoint:

PowerPoint 98

Known Issues

• A non-displaying toolbar called “PrintMe” will appear in the list of PowerPoint toolbars. This will be hidden in future releases.
